Maintenance and General Care Instructions

Thank you for choosing our steel fire pit. To ensure its longevity and keep it looking great, please follow these maintenance and general care guidelines:

Optional Coating:

  • A heat-resistant paint or coating designed for steel fire pits can be used to protect it from rust and corrosion (paint not included with fire pit). Follow the coating manufacturer's instructions for the best results.

Regular Cleaning:

  • After each use, allow the fire pit to cool completely.
  • Use a brush to remove ash, soot, and loose debris from the interior and exterior surfaces.

Rust Prevention:

  • Mild steel is prone to rust, especially in damp or humid conditions. To protect your fire pit, wipe it down with a cloth lightly coated in vegetable oil after each use. This will create a thin, protective layer against moisture and help prevent rust. Be sure to reapply the oil as needed.

Storage:

  • When your fire pit is not in use for an extended period, consider storing it in a dry, sheltered area to protect it from the elements. Covering it with a weather-resistant fire pit cover (not included) can also help prevent rust and keep it clean.

Cooking Grates:

  • If you use cooking grates or accessories with your fire pit, clean them thoroughly after use to avoid the buildup of food residues, which can lead to rust and affect cooking performance.

Regular Inspection:

  • Periodically inspect your fire pit for signs of rust, wear, or damage. If you notice any issues, address them promptly to prevent further deterioration.

Safety Precautions:

  • Ensure that the fire pit is positioned on a level and stable surface.
  • Maintain a safe distance from combustible materials and structures.
  • Always follow the safety guidelines provided with this firepit and on our website.

Responsible Disposal:

  • If you decide to replace your fire pit, dispose of it in accordance with local regulations and recycling programs.

By following these maintenance and general care instructions, you can enjoy your mild steel fire pit for years to come while minimizing the risk of rust and ensuring a safe and pleasant outdoor experience.
